Five Habits of Dobbin's Best Users

Dobbin works best when it's directed. These are the five habits behind our best users' best answers.

There's a gap between a good answer and a great one. The difference is between using Dobbin and directing it. These five habits are how the best users get there.

How to direct Dobbin

1. Challenge Your Ideas

Good ideas get better under pressure. Before you commit to something important, use the Challenge button.

Dobbin will red-team its own answer — poking holes in your assumptions, identifying risks you haven't considered, and throwing alternatives at you before your stakeholders do. If your plan holds up, you'll know it. If it doesn't, you'll find out now instead of later.

2. Tell It How to Think

Not every problem calls for the same thinking mode. Using the wrong one is like asking your CFO to brainstorm and your creative director to audit the books.

Precise

When the answer needs to be right and factual. Compliance questions, contract terms, technical specs.

Creative

When you're stuck in the same thinking loop. Use it on problems you've already tried to solve once and didn't like the answer.

Brainstorm

Before you've committed to a direction. Bring Dobbin a messy problem and get a spread of ideas before you decide which one to pursue.

3. Give It Feedback

The feedback buttons aren't just ratings.

Every thumbs up, thumbs down, or heart is a calibration. Over time Dobbin starts matching your voice more closely, drops approaches you've already rejected, and defaults to the formats that actually work for you.

4. Critique to Your Brand

Dobbin is an editor that knows your brand voice, style guide, and standards. Use that expertise.

Instead of polishing a draft yourself, either select the Writing Critique button or simply type CRITIQUE. You'll get direct, actionable feedback grounded in your brand, not generic writing advice.

  1. Stop It

If you ask the wrong question or realize you need to add more context, you don't have to wait for Dobbin to finish.

Just type STOP.

It's the fastest way to reset the conversation and get back on track without wasting time.

Stop Asking and Start Directing

These habits mark the shift from passive user to active operator. Once you make it, Dobbin delivers clearer decisions, stronger ideas, and better answers you can act on immediately.

Start with Challenge or Critique button in your next conversation. One will poke holes in your plan before anyone else does. The other will make your writing accountable to your brand. Either way, you'll have something sharper than when you started.

Go from conversation to action.

See how Dobbin turns scattered Slack threads into clear decisions and keeps your team moving, all without another meeting.
